This is a powerful and very straightforward red wine that is made from 100% Syrah in the Northern Rhone Valley (France). The nose has intense aromas of dark fruits and blackberries. The palate is powerful, concentrated, and full-bodied with flavors of black cherries, coffee, and pepper. When young, this wine is crunchy and zippy but softens and mellows with age. Hermitage by Domaine du Colombier is perfect with rich meat dishes such as cassoulet, beef short ribs, or strong mature cheeses, and if you are adventurous a rich chocolate dessert.
